I’ve been having problems getting access to overseas sites for roughly a week now and when I call China Unicom they simply say they have no idea when things will be back to normal.

Do you have any past experience with problems like this in China? How long should I expect it to take for them to fix it?

It is extremely frustrating. I am considering switching to China Netcom as I hear that their connections are not affected by the current situation. Can anyone confirm this?

What I find extremely weird though, is that the day before yesterday my connection was almost back to normal – well it was still very slow but at least I was able to access overseas sites and, more importantly, play WoW.

For proxy, I use “ktunne”
It’s working fine for me and it’s free.

i use stronvpn, and have been having success dialing into my premium server in hong kong. but this is a 30 USD/month service.

Any proxy services you know that are free (excluding Freegate, because there is no Freegate for Mac)?

Be prepared to be blocked till October and keep finding new Proxy servers in the meanwhile……….
